From Quito

The trip takes about 7 to 8 hours and costs approximately $8.00 - $10.00 USD with Manta as a final destination. Service is also offered directly to Puerto López and you can take a bus from there to Puerto Cayo.
To arrive in Sto. Domingo you can also take the highway via: Quevedo-Empalme-Portoviejo, and from there continue through Manta until you reach Jipijapa, then onto Puerto Cayo. This road is in better condition and will save a bit of time.
From Guayaquil
There are buses that leave from Jipijapa bound for Puerto Cayo every half hour for $0.75 USD.
Local Buses
There are various buses that travel along the coast from Mangralalto to Manta that pass through Puerto Cayo. There are also frequent buses that go directly between Jipijapa and Puerto Cayo for $0.75 USD.

- Take the Panamericana Sur until Alóag.
- Take the Autopista Rumiñahui (Valle de los Chillos) until el Triángulo de San Rafael y then take the road to Sangolqui, then on to Amaguaña and Alóag.
